Because She Does, Thursday

Today i felt compelled to write about the lives of women and the meaning, purpose and direction that we all must have.
As i listened to a recent sermon about "Forget me Not" i thought it appropriate to share the vital role that each of women have to perform. Just like the star that had precise orbit millions of years before it appeared over the stable in Bethlehem to show the birth of the Savior. The same precision was given to each of our lives and of our timing on this earth. Each of us are here for a specific reason to light a way for our family, and others and not just light the way but to warm it as well...

Sometimes, I get caught up in the lazy or comparing or monotonous routine attitude of the day and forget the importance of asking questions like "What can I contribute? Why was I chosen to be a mother to my boy? What can I do to strengthen the women around me? I sometimes forget the purpose and reason for me being here.  But it is vital to remember that we are here to be happy, and to fill the earth with kindness, greater love, service, compassion and gentleness.

Like I have mention before its easy to forget the true beauty in each of us. But all women have attractive features, and not the model-type attractiveness but one that come from our personality and our attitude. It is so sad when life gets us down to the point where we think we have no talents, no gifts and we allow ourselves to reach that level of gloom and despair.

But this is not so.

Each of us have a unique gifts that is less noticeable than the talents that we may judge ourselves by like stature, wealth, beauty, intelligence or grades. But let me name a few less noticeable gifts that we may overlook:
the gift of caring, the gift of listening, the gift of asking, the gift of being able to cry, the gift of avoiding contention, the gift of not passing judgement, the gift of seeking that which is righteous, the gift of being able to ponder.

These are just a few, but I hope you will see the less noticeable gifts you have a use them.

But not only use them, but continually build on those gifts- that was a blessing given to each of us that we aren't limited with our gifts, we can improve and continue to acquire more gifts to warm and light the way for others.
I hope we all remember, including me, that we are here at this time for a specific reason. allow the Lord and his angel to guide and direct you.

I wasn’t going to go to the Women’s conference on Saturday. You know the usual things, clean the house, pick up groceries and get ready for Sunday. But at the last minute I said to my daughter lets go. We quickly changed into our Sunday best and drove 20 minutes to the Stake Centre. And I am so glad I went.
I loved Pres. Uchtforf’s talk, it spoke to me. I know I am a daughter of God, but he clarified it. My favorite was; “Be thankful for the successes in your home, God notices them, they are not small to him.”
I can’t wait for the Ensign to come out. Each month in Relief Society one of the Presidency gives the lesson from the last General Conference. Havin just been released from the RS Presidency I can now sit and take it in.

Thanks so much for this post Shelby, it has been a very timely reminder for me not to "wallow" in myself but to concentrate on what I can give to others. Love your blog.
