Okay. Remember when I posted that I had a few crafts take over my life well here is one daunting craft that I conquered, a wood hutch. I've been wanting to paint this hutch for some time and finally got the time to do. And when I say time, I mean a lot of time. But that is beside the point, because now it is finished. And I love it.
The hutch was just a normal piece of furniture and I wanted it to look like an antique furniture piece.
- First: take off the doors and knobs.
- Second: Begin the sanding. You want to sand before you paint so you can take off the previous finish and get down to the bare wood.
- Third: PAINT! You are now ready to start painting (I used like an eggshell white, to give it more of creamier look), and make sure to paint 2 or 3 layers.
- Fourth: Then you just start sanding off the paint to give it that aged look. Anywhere and everywhere.
Here are some of the decor inside in my new white painted furniture which were simple to make but add some character to the hutch.
Here is a picture frame i made in a woodworking class, stained dark brown accompanied by a photo I took... quite simple.
See that book? Brandon made that for an assignment once and it gave me the ideas for the scrolls...
And maybe in a future post I can show how it was done.
There you have it. A new piece of white furniture to our home- quite the project but loving the outcome.

Here I just grabbed some twigs off our tree outside like I did before but just used brown spray paint instead of black. As you can tell I love this look
All the plates/bowls were created by my husband- amazing right??
Hold on. Except one plate- see that large one in the back? yea I did that one. Well i painted, painted at color me myne. haha. not as cool

Wow, I still can't believe how gorgeous that looks. What a difference it made to paint it like you did. I'm sure that was lots of work. I love the scroll ideas and how you have all of it displayed. You do have an eye for that. Who would have known from your bedroom in High School. Ha! Fun to display all of Brandons pottery - very talented Brandon.
I love the way it turned out!! Yay! Good job! That is exactly what I did with our crib too. Except I made Rog sand the whole thing. ha. I cant believe Brandon made all those dishes!! Actually I can. but they are amazing!! so is yours :) Just as pretty.
Wow shelbs that's amazing, I can't believe you actually did that, I'm really impressed. I bet it feels rewarding every time you step inside your kitchn.
Nice job! I love it! Again, another thing I have always dreamed of doing but haven't. Partly because we don't have furniture to do it to. Or a place to put any. YET. One day... one day...

I am in LOVE with that piece! I have been wanting to do that finish to a armoire that belonged to my mom. You could start your own business refinishing furniture like that! This, http://www.altard.com/Portfolio-II.html is a girl that lives near my daughter that has started the same type of business.
