Patriots Day

Patriots Day Boston
Patriots Day Boston
Daxton camped over at a ward members house with Daddy for the Patriots Day reenactment. He was incredibly excited and just wouldn't put any of his stuff down for an hour before they left for the ward members house.

Patriots Day is by far one of my favorite days in Boston. I look forward to it all year long. There is so much to do and so much unity in Boston. It just gets me all giddy again just thinking about it. We first start the day off with a reenecatment of the shot heard around the world. A family in our ward are very patriotic and just beam with American pride. So as a curtsy they open up their home for parking which is about 1/2 mile away from the reenactment providing Hot Chocolate for the early risers (because the reenactment starts at around 5:30 A.M). And after they provide a large hot breakfast in their home. Its pretty incredible.

After that adventure we always try and catch some zzz's so that we can make it through the rest of the day. So while the boys slept Brandon and I watch a parade. The parade was pretty awesome they had all sorts of things.  Oriental bands, minuteman bands, high school bands, little golf carts disguised as little semi-trucks! ha It was quite the show.

Watching the marathon is really one of the highlights of the day. This year was incredibly special as it was the first year after the bombing. As we were walking towards the race my heart beat just started to go up and I couldn't help but squeal because of all the excitement and unity that was felt in the air. And after watching this marathon and last years I just had this burning desire to run a marathon someday... and maybe even the Boston marathon!

After the marathon we got some food and took it to the Lexington Green (where the reenactment took place) There we picnicked with some friends and played on grass. The weather was unbeatable as it was the warmest Boston has been since winter a big 80 degrees! THEN.. really I told you it was an incredible day. We went to Kimballs farm with our ward family. Kimballs is a farm but it also is an ice cream shop with HUGE proportions and its a tradition for our ward to go together on Patriots day. We played and played until the sun went down and when we were getting eatin' alive by misquotes and couldn't see past our hands anymore we decided to call it a day.
Really now do you see why i love Patriots day? I wish we could have a day like that at least once a month.
