Because She Does, Thursday
We all know the importance of good friends. Moreover, a good lifetime friend sometimes as Rascel Flatts would say will only be met… once in a lifetime. My dear friend Kimberly is one of my lifetime friends. We first began our journey in the 8h grade as we both found our love for volleyball.
I was kinda an awkward girly in junior high- call me crazy but I was. and in those awkward years it was hard to find confidence or find that niche were I felt comfortable. But Kimberly who had established her confidence and a good group of friends was what helped me get through some of those tough days. I didn’t know her much during those jr high years, but I knew every time I saw her she was ready to greet me with a huge smile and big Hello, comforting the little spirit in me that needed a friend. Our friendship grew from there, and just like this start, Kimberly has always been there for me. She has always been confident and comfortable with herself, and because of that was able to reach out to others and be their friend.
Kimberly and I were on the same volleyball team from jr high to high school, and as a result we were with each other a great deal. We got to know each others strengths and weaknesses, and through our time on our teams we became a backbone for each other; pushing and encouraging. She was the captain of our team, and from what I said earlier it shouldn’t be a surprise. She kept the members of our teams heads from sinking below the water and knew what each of us needed to keep going. After HS we then went on to be roommates in college and through those crazy years, she was always the first to help when help was needed.
But to be honest it’s so hard to pinpoint what I want to say about her, but I will say that Kimberly’s second name should be loyal. She has been there for me from teaching me biology, giving rides, a friend to cry to or ask advice, and dancing our hearts out.. She has sinced moved away but that loyalty has not changed. Whenever, there is a length of time that I have not heard from her and I think to myself, “I need to call Kimberly” its as if she reads my mind and calls me first. I know all of her friends can attest that she is so loyal and will call to check up and to make sure she knows what’s going on in the lives of her friends. And boy, am I grateful for that. We share a lot of memories, and they have been those crazy silly to sentimental moments. Thank you Kimberly for all you do. love ya!
Here are our little guys...
