Because She Does, Thursday

This past weekend we were bombarded with uplifting and spiritual messages;
i swear many of the messages were speaking directly to me saying;
"shelby you need to..."
And as a reflection on the talks and a reflection on my life I realized a common topic that has been present and one that me and my sweet hubby seem to talk quite often about.
Finding the positive in others.

I recently saw a post our cousin David Osmond said on Facebook...
"Remember the good ol' days, when we could all just chat, and laugh, and get along? Yeah… me neither. :)"

I had to laugh at this post because of its trueness.
Too many time we each are filled with so many opinions and negativity and not enough love.
I have noticed this in myself, as well as in the world.
And like I've said before, my hubby and I have talked about it and have made a point to make changes in our lives.

In Elder Hollands talk he made many poignant statements about this subject, many of which I would like to quote.

"..coveting, pouting, or tearing others down does not elevate your standing, nor does demeaning someone else improve your self-image. So be kind, and be grateful that God is kind. It is a happy way to live."

"We are not in a race against each other to see who is the wealthiest or the most talented or the most beautiful or even the most blessed. The race we are really in is the race against sin, and surely envy is one of the most universal of those."

Aren't those to the point and perfectly said?

 I also love Elder Uchtdorf and the messages he shared;
"Let us be kind.

Let us forgive.
Let us talk peacefully with each other.
Let the love of God fill our hearts.
“Let us do good unto all men.”
Our efforts should be concentrated on these words, love, and charity instead of negativism.
When we seek the positive in others, even though there are differences of opinions, the burden of negativism will be lifted off our shoulders, as we move from a negative to a positive realm.
And even more specifically when woman take the initiative to find good and talk peacefully (isn't that such a beautiful word) of each other there seems to be no stronger, mortal, force for good in this world.
As i am improving, I hope that you will too, and build woman up. In a world that is already filled with so much hatred and sorrow what better force could we add to the world than love?
Don't allow your life to be a dark room where negatives are developed.
haha. do you love this? I found it at a boutique once- thought it was fitting :)

Loved your post and the reminders from Conference.I wasn't able to hear Sundays talks as I was taking care of grandma but I've started listening to them and they are wonderful. You are such a great example to me in so many ways.
