Play Date

If you were to have a play date with my boys and me.

I would invite you into my home, and most likely apologize for the lack of furniture and the unorganized home that I am still trying to piece together.

Tayte would be in my arms and greet you with a big slobbery smile, and Daxton would join him along with a welcome greeting.

I would ask you how you were doing, and try to understand life from your perspective. I would do my best to listen and wrestle a 2 year olds excitement.

I would ask for your opinions, what you like to do and what makes you happy.

I would tell you that we are happy, and that i was thankful to be a mom.
and... that its not fair how fast time goes and how fast my babies go with it.

I would tell you the many things I'm learning being a mom. Of how little I know and how my babies are teaching me so many things.
and i'd maybe even give you some example of times that I wish i could freeze.
The moments that make you still, and gaze with awe. The moments that bring inexpressible joy.

I would tell you how i have gained so much appreciation for my mom and moms everywhere who so selfishly put their wants on the back burner and dedicated their lives to their children.

I could possible talk your ear off about how i'm learning to be more patient and how not easy it is. I would tell you that I have a tendency to wear my emotions on my sleeve and I've had to learn to brush them off and love and forgive.

At some point in our conversation being frugal would come up and how much i love finding a good deal. how it can be an addiction and almost like a high to find that one good deal. and jokingly add that someday i will make money finding those good deals.

Our kids would start to get antsy and we would wind down our conversation. But we'd follow you to the door and add one more thing before you left.

I would thank you for coming and that it really felt good to have some company. And I'd tell you I couldn't wait to see you soon.

I would welcome that invitation, anytime. :) In fact, the way my life is going lately, a little girl talk and a slobbery smile might just be what I need.
