Utah

We got back awhile ago from Utah and it was such a delight.
 I really wanted to focus on building better relationships with family and friends that were there, so a lot of my time and energy was spent toward that. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, except a few with my phone. And it felt kinda amazing just to relax and not worry about documenting everything. {Although I do regret not taking a few more pictures.}

However, all the talking we had over the course of the day and into the night was so emotionally bonding, and so much more important in this time of my life that I don't care too much for the pictures. I look back on the time I had in Utah and realized how much its changed my perspective for this year. In fact, I have three New Years Resolutions and one of them is to strengthen relationships and I think that being in Utah has set me off to a good start.

With that said, my mother being the good Chirst-like person that she is, wanted to create a beautiful film of our family. I was very excited to help and be apart of filming and creating the video. However, because we have such a large family ( 9 children, plus spouses, plus kids)  it wasn't always easy to get filming done or even remember to do it!
So in efforts to make the best our of our situation we did 90% of the filming in about 2 hours right before church. And if you've ever been in a large family you know that that is quite the task!!

I am happy with the outcome, although there are parts of it that I wish we could do over, I absolutely loved the film. Just watching it over and over again makes me realize the love that I have for my own family. The incredibly good people that they are ( because really they each are seriously amazing) and the love that I have for the Book of Mormon. I hope you watch it, share it and feel it.

What a beautiful video, Shelby! I have been following your blog for about a year now after hearing about it through some random friends I went to Bingham with. My husband and I live in Tennessee now and I'm always inspired by you and your beautiful family and the strength you have developed from living away from home. Thanks for sharing this and for all the time you put into your blog!

I love this video, Shelby. It made me cry as I so vividly remember unwrapping the precious volume you gave to me and how it has brought joy beyond measure to my life. It has enhanced my understanding of the Holy Bible, answered many of my questions, and made me more acutely aware of the blessings that are brought into my life on a daily basis. I keep copies with me at all times for those who ask. But the one I have next to my dad's Bible scriptures is the first copy I ever held, and the pages that spoke to me in such a loving way. You are never far from my thoughts, Shelby. I love you so much. Hugs to the three boys! :)

You are immensely talented and I'm so glad you put it to good use here. I truly love the message and it is so simple. The Book of Mormon is at the center of everything that we do. It is a guide, a instruction manual, a book for teaching and learning, and it is another great testament of Jesus Christ!

Shelby, I think you are really gifted at relationships. You have a way of making people feel like they matter and are special. :) Curious what your other resolutions are - hope you'll share if you are willing.

Hi Shelby,
I felt a sweet tender mercy as I watched your family video. I began to tear up, when I went back and stop the video at 1:24, where all of you and your brothers and sisters gathered. How proud your mother and father must be of all of their children.
Thank you for sharing your family and their testimonies of the Book of Mormon.
I will get to go through the new Gilbert, AZ temple open house, this week! We are so richly blessed to know Families are Forever!
Drops of oil were added to my lamp today!
Have a happy day! :-)

Thank you for sharing this! Beautiful video, and I'm glad you had a nice trip in Utah. It's so important to keep and maintain good relationships with friends and family. I understand the need to relax sometimes and not worry about photos (why iphones are handy!). Sometimes I have to force myself to put down the camera for a while and just PLAY with my kids, haha!

Beautiful post :)
