A birthday party on the Charles

When Brandon and I were thinking about a theme for Tayte's first birthday party we thought
since Tayte has lived his whole life in Boston, it would be fun to do a theme that highlighted all the things he has done in this beautiful city. I know that Tayte won't remember this day but it's so fun to celebrate our special boy and this last year we all made it together!
Tayte was born along the Charles River and so we decided to have the party along the River as well. We tried to have the food correspond with activities Tayte has done in Boston, but it was hard to come with food for a lot of activities. However, we did get some ideas: apples for apple picking, Cannoli's from Modern Pastry, veggies for all the farms we've been to, a cake that represented the Charles River... you get the idea.
^^For invitations I created a post card with a picture of Boston and sent them out to our guest^^

^^ Tayte was not interested in eating his cake... haha
I had to stick a taste into his mouth, but even after that I think he basically just wiped his finger across the top. ^^

^^such a happy boy!^^

We also rented boats for everyone to go rowing on the Charles River.
It was really, so much fun.
It also was the perfect day to go out on the water- I still can't believe how lucky we were.
(I'm so sad I didn't get a picture of all the families that went out on the water, but it was so much fun to watch everyone go rowing on their boats)

^^Our turn. Daxton could hardly wait!^^

Tayte LOVED the boat ride and the water. And my heart bursted watching Tayte and Daxton just oohhh and awe over the entire ride.
